Business mappings
Write rules that give every cost line a business owner, split shared costs, and reconcile each month to the invoice.

Rules
- Each dimension has its own rule set: business unit, cost center, team, application and environment.
- A rule matches on any FOCUS field or tag, and sets a fixed value or the value of a tag.
- Rules run in priority order, with a live preview of what they match.
- Re-run allocation to apply changed rules to past months.
Shared costs
Put support plans, shared networking or platform tooling in a shared pool, and choose how it is split:
| Method | How it splits |
|---|---|
| Even | Equally across the owners you list |
| Fixed | By shares you set |
| Proportional to cost | By each owner's direct cost |
| Proportional to Kubernetes use | By each owner's share of cluster use |
Reconciliation
Every line falls into one of four groups, and they add up to the bill: direct, Kubernetes, shared and unallocated. Unallocated spend stays visible, so you can write the next rule.
Start broad
Begin with rules on accounts and subscriptions, which cover the most spend for the least effort. Add tag rules for what remains.
